Great article on How We (America purposely) Built The Ghettos - This kind of stuff breaks my heart because it forces me to think of the cruel, inhumane, mistreatment that black people in America have had to endure - during slavery, after it was abolished, and even covertly until this very day. I often wonder who I would have been had I been born in the thick of it all, as opposed to the tail end of open racism; would I have rather died or would I have been willing to fight to the death? I wonder why was this ever acceptable by a mass society for one race of human beings to be treated in such a way by another? The same happened with Japanese, Jewish, Native Americans, and many others - atrocities all inflicted by the originators of America upon others. The war on black is still raging on, but only a few want to acknowledge it. Some people say to me, Brad, its over, we have a black president now; we finally made it over in America. I call bullshit! When you read facts such as this article presents; living facts and evidence about the disproportionate incarceration of black and Hispanic males by privately-owned prison systems; facts about racial profiling; how can one possibly believe they have made it. It isnt just about YOU! We can try to ignore it away, but that will not work. Black and other people of color must sincerely stand lock-in-step with white, to fight for the equality of all. We have to stand against the negative perceptions that Americans have been subconsciously fed to think of blacks, and blacks ironically fed to think of themselves. This isnt a theory, all you have to do is look around you, and be willing to accept what you see for what it really is.
