Great news! Dr Susan Wilson has been awarded the MBE for her work with AIDS orphans and widows in Tanzania as chairman of the Tumaini Fund. At the Queen’s birthday reception at Government House in Guernsey, UK on June 15, Lt-Governor, Air Marshal Peter Walker, Guernsey Bailiff Richard Collas and guests recognised Dr Wilson’s outstanding achievement. “I feel very honoured and so grateful,” Dr Wilson said. “The children in Tanzania are going to be singing and dancing when they learn that the Queen knows about them...We are 10 years on with Tumaini now and the fact that we are supporting 25,000 children is a miracle, so the honour has to go to God. Jesus Christ is our MD - He is incredibly good and that’s why Tumaini is working”. Air Marshal Walker congratulated Dr Wilson: “She directly benefits the population of the area of Tanzania - well done Susan”. MBE stands for Member of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and is one of the highest honors a civilian in Great Britain can obtain, short of being knighted. Dr Wilson will travel to London to receive her award at Buckingham Palace later this year.
