Great news, Ferndalians. After a decade of lobbying (and fence-cutting), the city and province are going to give us back the path that connected the east ends of Selby Ave. and Beechgrove. Longer-time residents will remember this allowed anyone on either Ferndale or Selby to take a straight path to the Transitway, across the west side of Jules-Léger Centre property, without having to go the long way via Churchill. Sometime in the late 1990s, the centre began locking the fence. Someone kept cutting holes in the fence but the centre would always patch it up. The announcement is scheduled for Saturday morning. Heres the note from City Councilor Katherine Hobbs: Hello Westboro Beach residents, MPP Yasir Naqvi & Councillor Katherine Hobbs would like to share some exciting news with you about your neighborhood! Join them for a morning street celebration and hear all about it! When: Saturday, May 3, 2014 Time: 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM Where: Beechgrove and Lanark (Next to Centre Jules-Léger) Grab your family and enjoy some morning cake and coffee with us! For more information call us at 613-580-2485 or reply to this email Hope to see you there!
