Great news. However, I did hear a story on NPR at lunch from a Mississippi hospital official. The ACA was designed to end extra payments to hospitals with highly dependent patients, to help fund expanded Medicaid and thus the hospitals would instead get paid thru the expanded Medicaid. However, Mississippi is one of those Neanderthal states that would not expand Medicaid, and so their hospitals, serving a very poor population, lose both the extra Federal payment now in existence and the expanded Medicaid dollars to make up for it. He estimates this will cost Mississippi $10 mil. in lost Federal dollars. AS SURE AS I LIVE AND BREATHE, the Rs will cite this as a failure of the ACA, even though it was a conscious choice of 26 R Govs and Legislatures. Once in practice, the Feds will have to fix that by restoring the existing add-on reimbursements. But what short-sighted leadership - all to see Obama fail.
