Great, so it’s not me. But here is the problem: I am responsible for the growth of these students. I have to make sure they achieve certain objectives throughout the year, including achieving proficiency on the ACT. Also, I have to (attempt to) transition them to the Common Core State Standards which, despite the fact that they are so nebulous and inherently flawed, include assessments which are so far above these students’ level of competency it’s frightening. washingtonpost/blogs/answer-sheet/wp/2013/11/08/teacher-what-i-cant-do-for-students/
