Great to meet with Kurdish comrades and friends at a 30 strong meeting to discuss solidarity with the Kurds and the Yazidi people in Nottm this afternoon. I learnt a lot and am really pleased that a local solidarity campaign is to be set up - raising not only urgent humanitarian issues of trying to stop the persecution of those suffering under IS(IS) oppression, particularly the trafficking of women, but also trying to help unite the Kurdish population over here. To apply political pressure to give financial and military aid to the genuine democratic forces in Kurdistan, Iraq and Syria - to recognize the rights of the Kurds to an independent democratic state - and to strengthen the relationship between the democrats and workers throughout the area. Well done to Jasim Ghafur and Melissa Cowell for pulling it together
