Last week, the Attorney General, the Hon Robert Clark MP, and the Minister for Community Services, the Hon Mary Wooldridge MP, wrote to Jenny Macklin regarding the lack of funding to CASAs and VACCA to meet increased demand for service related to the Royal Commission. The Victorian Government notes that many CASAs and VACCA are reporting increased calls regarding the Royal Commission - work that is not covered by state government funding. Our view is that as the Royal Commission is referring people to CASAs, the Commonwealth has an obligation to fund these services. We would also appreciate Victorian organisations getting a proportional amount of state based funding.
