Greetings! Here at Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP), we like to start at the beginning. Before the baby is even born, our nurses start helping vulnerable, low-income mothers, pregnant with their first child learn the skills necessary to become great moms. We are able to do this because of our amazing donors! Your help will make a difference in the lives of many young moms and their babies every day. You can help girls like Lorena. Halfway through eighth grade, Lorena found out she was pregnant. She was scared and uncertain of her future. Her mom had just gone through health trauma and her dad was not around. The father of her future child was no longer a part of her life. Lorenas local health clinic told her about Nurse-Family Partnership and she voluntarily enrolled. Lorena was introduced to Sara, a NFP nurse home visitor. Sara knew since Lorena was only 13, hers was a high-risk pregnancy - with a greater chance of delivering preterm. After completing eighth grade, Lorena carried her baby full-term and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, who she named Amy. By the end of their visits together, Sara saw a confidence in Lorena, now 15, as the young mom said, I can do it. I know how to do this now. As a pregnant 13-year-old, Lorena overcame significant adversity to become the confident, young mother she is today. At a critical time, her nurse Sara provided the support she needed. Saras belief in Lorena empowered her to put her on the path to give her daughter Amy a brighter future. Your contribution will help Lorena and almost 26,000 other young women this year alone who are transforming their lives with help from Nurse-Family Partnership. Your generosity will bring the proven, effective Nurse-Family Partnership program to even more young families like Lorenas. How will your gift make a difference? Well, Nurse-Family Partnership is among the social interventions with the most rigorous evidence. Your donation will bring services to even more moms-in-need this holiday season. Science allows us to predict that on average, enrolling 1,000 low-income families in NFP will result in an average reduction of: • 78 preterm births • 73 second births to young mothers • 240 child maltreatment incidents • 3.4 infant deaths • Reduced language delays in children by nearly 40%, thus reducing pre-school or school-based remedial services required Your donation will help thousands of young struggling families. You can give them the gift of hope and opportunity today - a gift many have never had. Thank you for your support and for your compassion. Because of you, many vulnerable moms and babies will have a brighter future. Sincerely, Thomas R. Jenkins, Jr. President & CEO
