Greetings from the Assembly of the East Central Synod of the ELCA. It has been a good gathering celebrating the global and local church. This morning, Saturday, we elected a new Bishop in five votes. Bishop Jerry Mansholt was elected after a thoughtful and prayerful series of votes, questions and presentations. Blessings on our new Bishop who comes from Kansas and was Bishop there for 12 years and a local pastor before that. POP is lucky, Bishop Mansholt has been working with us in the call process. Of course this could change, but this election also means the period of transition will not be so long. He has been saving as Interim Bishop for three months. As you sit quietly today pray for the global church and its community in Coloma. Exciting times! See you and your tomorrow morning at 10:30am for the coffee hour and of course WORSHIP AT NINE!!!!!
