Greetings to all the sisters! I trust everyone is well and looking forward to a sweet, joyous Thanksgiving. For those who are traveling to be with friends and family, I wish you safe and unhindered journeys. For those sticking closer to home, perhaps hosting the crowd, I wish you perfectly browned turkeys and luscious pies. For us all, may God grant us hearts of gratitude, humble awareness, and deep, abiding peace. We’re moving into a season where we flit and flurry at the speed of light to accomplish exhaustive ‘to do’ lists – but let us remind one another of the importance of the pause: there is a holiness in taking moments along the way for reflection upon simple joys, bountiful blessings and the sheer wonder of profound love. Don’t forget to pause, my sisters. J And speaking of simple joys – For our December Club Social, we will meet on Thursday evening, December 4th, 7:00 pm at Mountain View Restaurant here in Pilot Mountain. The side room (upstairs) will be ours for the evening’s fun! We’re planning a gentle evening with a delicious meal, a resounding game of Dirty Santa, and the revelation of our Secret Sisters. We plan to keep the evening moving at a good pace and will try to conclude at a reasonable hour. So for those of you who have a strong desire to catch part of the SCAN event at Old North State Winery, there should be plenty of time left to visit the tree and wine auction before 10:00 pm. By keeping our regular meeting date, our mothers with young children will only have to arrange one evening of baby-sitting. Those of us with loaded December calendars will not have to commit two evenings. Plus, we’ll be helping one of our local businesses recover from “bridge stress”! In preparation for the evening, bring: · A wrapped or bagged Christmas ornament to play “Dirty Santa” (Doesn’t have to be new.) · Your “reveal” gift for your secret sister (We’ll draw secret sisters in January) · Your check book or card for dinner ($12.00 - $20.00 should do it, unless you’re really hungry! ;) · Your annual club dues of $35.00 if you have not provided them to Janie as of yet. · Your playful heart! J In the meantime, let us remember one another in good thoughts and prayers. Our own Susie Cooper is having two surgeries in the month of December on the 11th and the 30th. Karen McBennett, currently on leave, needs our special care, as do so many others among us who need to be uplifted and encouraged. Love one another well. J Finally, to each of you, I offer my heartfelt love and appreciation for your tender care these past many months since my beloved Marty’s death. You’ve each in your own precious way, applied a salve to my aching heart and have made many of my days more bearable. These last few days as I’ve been counting up the blessings and sweetness in my life, I’ve counted each of you twice! Know that I love you all deeply and wish you the most wonderful, blessed and Happy Thanksgiving! Anna J
