Grenada will be represented in two major regional youth football tournaments this month and the Grenada Football Association is hoping for similar success as the girls under 20 team which copped a spot in the second round of the Caribbean Football Union preliminary round in Suriname last month. The national under 17 girls will be leaving the country this week for the Dominican Republic to participate in the Caribbean Football Union Preliminary rounds of the FIFA U17 tournament while the U15 boys are going to Cayman Islands to participate in the inaugural CONCACAF Youth tournament. Both teams have been in training for the past few months and the GFA is expecting positive results from both national youth teams. The boys’ team will be engaged in five matches in Group B which includes Jamaica, Belize, St. Lucia, Guatemala and Dominican Republic with their first match against Jamaica on August 13th from 6.00pm. The boys’ team is coached by Andrew Munroe and his assistants are Gerald Alexander and Patrick Modeste. The team is being managed by David Bernadine. The boys Under 15 team will be captained by Rickell Charles, son of former national player Ricky “Curry” Charles. The full boys U15 squad reads Randel Fletcher, Chelon Edgehill, Earldon Millette, Kendon Nicholas Joseph, Kendon Joseph, Delon Collins, Keron Charles, Jahmai Young, Jeremy Richardson, Jehreem Auld, Brandon Hood, Raheem Julien, Kobe Thomas, Keno Alexander, Kitakufei Nelson, Javon Bartholomew, Reshane Houston and captain Rickell Zidane Raul Charles. Meanwhile Franklyn Nat Simpson will lead the technical squad charged with responsibilities to secure a second round berth in the CFU Girls U17 preliminary round in the Dominican Republic. He will be assisted by Alisha John, Shane Marshall as Trainer, Desmond Noel as Goalkeeper coach and Manager Patricia Patrice-Roberts. The Spice Girls will come up against host the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Guyana. The full squad reads, Shana Abraham, Arissa Edgehill, Roneisha Frank, Samantha McSween, Nikita Paul, Dilonna Scott, Sparkle Joseph, Judy Mc Intosh, Shania Baptiste, Donezra Francois, Jeanelle Charles, Briana Garraway, LaKesha Whiteman, Shirvonna Williams, Shikkira Charles, Sakina Ambrose, Janelle Charles and Aalyah St. Louis.
