Grimms 2014- Best Soundtrack: Inside Llewyn Davis- This one was VERY difficult to decide upon. The synth cool of the soundtracks to Starry Eyes and The Guest were breathtaking, the eccentric nature of the Frank soundtrack was a selection box of lovely oddities and of course possibly the most talked about soundtrack of the year with the retro hits in Guardians of the Galaxys Awesome Mix proved to be fierce competition. So why Llewyn Davis, without question, the least showy or exciting one of the bunch? Well, honestly, I picked the CD up before even seeing the film and I am by no means at all a fan of folk music and so the fact that this soundtrack blew the doors down on this prejudice I think tips it over the edge to the best soundtrack of the year. Hauntingly melancholic and simply beautiful, theres not one duff track and above all else, Oscar Isaac just has an incredible voice that Ill never get tired of listening to, long after the film has just become another part of the Coens fantastic tapestry of work.
