Growing up my dad was always the hardest worker I knew. He - TopicsExpress

Growing up my dad was always the hardest worker I knew. He worked sun-up to sun-down every single day of his life, but somehow I still got to have a really special relationship with him. My dad used to bring a candy bar home for me after closing up the store, and place it on my nightstand for when I woke up. My dad was the guy that drove me to first grade with a salamander in a jug so I could have something special for show and tell. My dad dragged me and my girlfriends all over Cholla Lake during the summers teaching us how to water-ski. My dad bought me my own pony when I turned 12 and let me ride him all over Sun Valley. My dad bought a trailor right by my high school when my parents divorced so that I could still go there for lunch and bring my friends, just so he could see me every day. My dad picked me up after I got stood up for a dance in high school, assured me I was the prettiest girl in three counties, and took me out for a hot fudge sundae to make it better. My dad never bought me a single gift, but gave me so much more. When life got hard, and I would call him devastated, he would say...Petra, your takin it too serious. Its all just a game. Or, Dont worry about it, every dog has his day in the sun. No truer words spoken. When I would go back to Holbrook and go looking for him in the coffee shops, his buddies would tell me how proud he was of me. He never said it, but I always knew he was happiest when his kids were around. He never spoiled us, he taught his kids how to be so tough. The best gift. He is one tough cowboy, but his roughest ride has been his last one. Hospice of the Valley came in today to make sure he can be comfortable now at the end of his life. I am so thankful I was able to spend this last summer with him. No more pain dad. I will miss you every day.
