Gunmen Kill 13 In Benue VilIage, Burn Houses Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen yesterday attacked four villages of Kwande local government area of Benue State, killing 13 persons and setting houses on fire. LEADERSHIP Friday gathered that the invaders stormed the communities at about 5am yesterday in fully loaded trucks armed with sophisticated arms and ammunition. Scores of persons including men, women and children were displaced, just as farmlands, schools and churches were completely destroyed. The attacked villages are Anyiase, Moon, Waya and Ihyundugh which are situated at Turan entity of the local government, located at the border between Nigeria and Cameroon. A displaced person who pleaded anonymity said the attackers unleashed terror on the communities for about six hours, overwhelming the residents. The police confirmed the attack and detailed troops to the affected areas. Yesterday, state governor Gabriel Suswam expressed sadness at the situation and said the invaders were not ordinary herdsmen
