Gunmen attack Useni’s house in Plateau A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni (retd.), on Wednesday escaped an attempt on his life when some gunmen attacked his Langtang home, in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State. Our correspondent gathered that no fewer than 48 bullet holes were identified on the walls of the house as the gunmen tried to gain entrance. Useni, who is a delegate to the National Conference, was not at home at the time of the attack. While one version said the attack was carried out by some gunmen, another said two rival youth groups engaged themselves in a duel in front of the house. It was further gathered that the heavily armed hoodlums, suspected to be assassins, came in to the compound at about 2am and surrounded the entire building before opening fire on different sections of the house. The timely arrival of security men in the area was said to have prevented the gunmen from razing the house to the ground. An eyewitness in Langtang said the youth, on hearing the gunshots, rushed to the scene but were dispersed by the Task Force commander in charge of Langtang . The eyewitness, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, alleged that some of the youth, who rushed to the scene, were manhandled by security men. Police Public Relations Officer, Abu Emmanuel, who confirmed the incident, said nobody was killed in the attack.
