Gusau declares for Zamfara governorship, promises free education at all levels .,.............................................................................. A member of the House of Representatives from Zamfara State #Ibrahim_Shehu_Gusau has formally declared his intention to contest for the governorship seat in the state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking during his declaration, Gusau, who is the chairman House committee on ICT, said if given the chance, he would provide free education at all levels in the state. He said education is not a privilege but a right, therefore all the indigenes must have access to quality education, which he said, would be realized through hard work and commitment. On the issue of security, he said farmers in the state had lost thousands of cattle to suspected rustlers in recent times, which has limited their opportunity to grow crops for commerce and consumption, adding that affected farmers in the state have not received any incentive that would make their business lucrative. “Hundreds of people, especially in the rural and farming communities, have lost their wives, and had women raped, but the state government did not show any concern to ameliorate the suffering of the rural dwellers being killed on daily basis by armed bandits,” he added. He promised to pay N18,000 minimum wage to the workers in the state. “The workers have been neglected; they were even dismissed by the government that cares not for their plight, and the glory and dignity of the civil service have since been eroded, therefore we must have the courage to restore the lost glory.” #Daily_Trust.
