Gut Health - helping our overall wellness When my youngest daughter presented with eczema at two weeks of age I started on my journey to understanding the importance of gut health for our overall wellness. At first I was completely confused as to why a skin condition was directing me to heal the gut. But when my daughter was crying non-stop with a fiery, weeping and at times bloody rash all over her face, neck and moving over her body I was willing to try anything to help her, whether I understood it or not. 16 months later and my daughter has no rash at all. Those who saw the months and months of horrible rashes and discomfort are still amazed. It presents itself when she eats the wrong foods. My daughter takes probiotics everyday and digestive enzymes when needed (while we were healing her gut she took these twice a day) to maintain her gut health. She eats only organic produce, avoids wheat, dairy, sugar and processed foods and we obviously keep her away from foods that she has had an allergic reaction to (eggs and nuts). Was it a hard transition? Not for her, as it changed her life. But I also needed to make these changes as I was breastfeeding. It was a difficult transition for me to make, I have always love dairy, wheat and especially sugar. The incentive to help my daughter was all I needed to make the sacrifice. The change in my own health and happiness has helped me to realise that it was actually not a sacrifice but an amazing awakening. What I use to maintain our gut health: - BioCeuticals Probiotics - Direct Health Zymax - Multi Enzyme Complex (DoTERRA have a digestive enzyme product called TerraZyme that I plan on trying when I run out of my Zymax) - Organic Produce from Indigo Whispers https://facebook/groups/indigoproduce/ What I use to treat my daughters eczema rash: doTERRA Essential Oils: - Lavender oil to soothe the itch - Melalueca (Tea Tree) Oil to treat infected rash - Geranium or Frankincense oil to heal the skin I use the 1-2 drops of essential oils with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil rubbed on the skin at the first sign of pinkness and reapply until relief is felt or the rash disappears.
