H/T Jovany Raphael Taking aim and hitting a target requires us to coordinate our muscles (using internal sensations) with the target we want to hit (using external information). Scientists at York University in Canada have decoded how the brain coordinates these two sets of information in a new study in the Journal of Neuroscience. They asked study participants to perform a variety of tasks while in an fMRI scanner and showed that the upper occipital lobe helped to tell the participants where to aim, and that the lower occipital and temporal lobes provided information about where the target was located relative to other landmarks. The parietal and frontal cortex helped to steer their reaching hand in the right direction. Read more: bit.ly/1uKe7r3
