HAPHAZARD GOVERNANCE IN AFRICA In other places governance, and development are planed, implemented, monitored and evaluated. They dont happen in ad-hoc ways. They are consistent, purposeful and calculated actions put in place by people who know exactly what they are doing. In Ghana nothing seems to be thought through and planned and monitored. Our road construction and other projects are crystal clear examples, e.g. GYEEDA. No one knows exactly what are the real development problems in our communities. And our actions are always reactive and not proactive. Examples are, for instance: a private citizen pleading on radio for the government to come rebuild a broken bridge. Or a chief crying out to high heavens for the president to have mercy to fix a broken high tension electricity pole. Or a community begging that a leaking latrine be repaired. Can that not be compared to haphazard government then? Lord have mercy, like we like to say, temper justice with mercy. Lol
