HAPPENING IN LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY!! GREAT NEWS: Not only have we sold enough tickets for this premier, the Cinema had to transfer us to a larger theater room! There will be enough room for folk turning up at the theater. $12 per ticket. Go to link to reserve yours ahead of time. 7:30 pm. Carmike Stonybrook 20 + IMAX 2745 S. Hurstbourne Pkwy, Louisville, KY, US, 40220 Brief panel follows the showing, led by Felix Garza of the National Farm Worker Ministry (NFWM) and Stephen Bartlett of Agricultural Missions (AMI) recalling what led to the first major CIW victory with Yum! Brands in Louisville, Kentucky in 2004 Food Chains is a feature-length documentary film which spotlights Coalition of Immokalee Workers, and the Fair Food Program! The screening will include a post-film Q&A session and is hosted by the Presbyterian Hunger Program, Food in Neighborhoods Community Coalition, New Roots, Inc, KITLAC, 15Thousand Farmers, Sowers Of Justice Network, National Farm Worker Ministry, Edible Louisville, and FoodWorks: Louisville. Food Chains opened in theaters across the country during Thanksgiving week. It features the Coalition of Immokalee Workers’ battle to transform the $4 trillion global supermarket industry through its worker-driven Fair Food Program. A Louisville showing is fitting since Louisville was home to the first major, multi-year struggle with Taco Bell and its Louisville-based mother company, Yum Brands, until they became the first of currently 12 corporations to join the Fair Food Program - a fabulous milestone for workers rights in the poorest paid and one of the most dangerous occupations! But there are hold-outs, and more work to be done. Current campaigns focus on Publix supermarkets and Wendys. Food Chains premiered at the 2014 Berlin Film Festival and screened subsequently at the Tribeca Film Festival and Guadalajara Film Festival. The film’s Executive Producers include Eva Longoria and Eric Schlosser. The film is a must-see! bit.ly/foodchainslouisville
