HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Had some Roundhead out on the end again today. Had some small Speckled Trout up close too. Were hoping things start picking up now that its dark... But they may wait for the next incoming tide. Well update in the comments if anything changes. You are definitely gonna want warm clothes tonight,. F.Y.I. We are currently the only Fishing Pier in the area STILL OPEN 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS A WEEK!! Crabbing is done for the season. ***For an updated fishing report on Sat, Sun and Mon please call - our tech support is off duty. 757-481-7071*** For those of you who wish to complain about the Gill Nets and Haul Seine nets that surround the pier, please contact your local legislator as the Commonwealth of Virginia makes those laws and the Virginia Marine Resource Commission only carries them out. The Code of Virginia only states that the nets must be ...300 yards of the sides or end of a commercial fishing pier. That code can be found here: https://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+28.2-302 In 2012, legislation was proposed by Delegate Christopher P. Stolle to allow the Virginia Marine Resource Commission to increase that distance if necessary; the legislation was tabled and remains in the Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources Committee. That Bill, and its history, can be found here: leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?121+ful+HB258 To contact your Virginia legislator, you can enter your address after clicking the link, and it will tell you who your legislators are. whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/ Commercial fishing from the beach is actually controlled by the City of Virginia Beach, which is also the government body that controls access to the beach. If you believe that commercial net fishing from the beach has become incompatible with the recreational use of the public beach, voice your concerns to the City Managers Office, James K.
