HAPPY NEW ISLAMIC YEAR: The Islamic Year 1436 has arrived this saturday eve. October 26th (sunday) is Muharram 1. Muharram is the first month of the Islamic Calender, and the others are (especially for those who are too boko-embided and Islamiyya-forgotten) Safar, Rabi Awwal, Rabi. Thani, Jumada Awwal, Jumada Thani, Rajab, Shaaban, Ramadan, Shawwal, Zul Qaada, Zul Hijjah). The beginning of an Islamic New year is significant and momentous occasion of reflection and remembrance. The significance of the new year borders on the opportunity it offers Muslims to migrate from whatever is wrong and sinful and the potential it holds for all to be closer to Allah throuhg devotion and obedience. Without migration from disobedience to obedience, sinfulness to righteousness, indiscipline to discipline, kufr and shirk to Islam, as enshrined in the Quran and Sunnah, the essence of hijrah is compromised and defeated.therefore, as the New Year begins and new vistas are opened, the Muslims are enjoined to use the priviledge, not a right, to renew their faith and commitment to righteousness. Happy New year to the entire Muslims Ummah! Kullu aamin wa antum bikhayr!!
