HAPPY TAILS.... Yesterday wasnt just the one year anniversary for Galeno, it was also the day that little Minnie (known as Mia in our program) was adopted! Minnie came to us from a high kill shelter where she had been surrendered by someone who would be considered a hoarder. For the first year of her life, this sweet sweet girl didnt even have a name! It took her quite a while to come out of her shell, as she had no socialization and had never really understood what it meant to have a kind touch, or a family to love. We were so thrilled when she was adopted last January, but her story didnt end there! For those of you who follow us regularly, you might remember the search for Mia, who slipped her collar shortly after getting to her new family. Big hearted folks from Oakville and surrounding areas came out and helped her new family and the TDRI team search for her in the coldest snap that most of us could remember. We all cried tears of joy when she was found and back in the safe arms of her loving family. Well... its been a year, and her new family has sent us an email update: Happy New Year everyone. I thought I would send an update on Minnie (Mia) now that she has been with us for a year!! I cant believe how quickly these months have passed. We all absolutely love this cute and funny little girl. She is so brave and has conquered so many of her fears this year. She has gone from being scared of EVERYTHING to chasing squirrels and rabbits on her walks! She loves to play with her human sisters and doggy brother and her crazy personality is really starting to show. She had an amazing first this week when she ventured into the back yard on her own without any coaxing or encouragement! It might seem trivial to some people but it just shows how brave this little girl is. She still stops when she hears a strange noise but her tail and ears are up and then she carries on with her walk. She is a fantastic addition to our family and we are so happy to have her. Thanks to The Dog Rescuers for all your incredible work. We are SO happy to see this brave little girl conquering her fears with the help of her family. Way to go Minnie!!!
