HAUNTED CANBERRA: Canberra Air Disaster Memorial 1940 - Canberra’s worst air disaster – when a Lockheed Hudson bomber fell from the air and crashed into a hillside near Queanbeyan and subsequently burst into flames and killed all 10 people on board instantly. Several members of Robert Menzies ministry were included in the fatalities and were flying to Canberra for an important war cabinet meeting. Several stories emerge from the site, such as the airman on fire seen, sounds of a phantom plane crashing and the mysterious ghosts darting across the road.
