HAWKWIND FEEDBACK DECEMBER 2014 Christmas Greetings Good People, When your Christmas festivities are over and your New Years Eve hangover has finally subsided to a dull ache, youll need something else to look forward to. Happily, help is at hand and there are 2015 Hawkwind dates awaiting our eager attention:- March 3rd.........Sheffield, City Hall Ballroom 4th.........Glasgow O2 ABC 5th.........Warrington, Parr Hall 6th.........Wolverhampton, Wulfrun Hall 7th.........London, Shepherds Bush Empire 8th.........Bristol, Motion 9th.........Southampton, Engine Rooms Support on those dates will be Focus. April 3rd – 5th...Seaton, Devon, The Gateway. Hawkeaster weekend. (the actual event is the 4th & 5th, but the hall opens for registration and get- together on the Friday evening). 11th...Tokyo, Japan, Shimokitazawa Garden Acts booked for Hawkeaster so far are Hawkwind (of course), Tarantism, Underground Zero, Electric Cake Salad and T.O.S.H. (of course). Lots more to come...its early days yet. I must just note that if you havent booked accomodation for Hawkeaster yet, now would be a good time to do it if you want to get the best possible lodgings. Those are the starters for 2015, just to help us to have warm thoughts throught the winter. More dates will follow. In fact, Bristol was added while I was typing this. There were some good times in 2014. Hawkwind played gigs in Norway (twice), Portugal, Finland and Germany, as well as a number of gigs and events in the U.K. Hawkeaster was convenient for folk living in the South, while Hawktoberfest was handy for those in the North. Sadly, we lost Stef and Laura after the Space Ritual gig in February (and we wish them well in their new adventures). Happily, we will see them with Hawkwind again, albeit only on our tv screens or pc monitors. Kris tells me they are doing all they can to get the Space Ritual dvd set out in time for Christmas. This must be one of the most eagerly awaited items ever to come from the land of Hawkwind. Its certainly very eagerly awaited by me! The year has seen Hawkwind having changes made to the film editing and to the packaging artwork and now we are just waiting for Gonzo to make it available. There is more...... Soon after Christmas, on January 26th, our good friends at Atomhenge will release a double cd of Hawkwind, Live At Hammersmith Odeon 1982. The cd set is entitled Coded Languages and consists of the following tracks; Warriors On The Edge Of Time, Choose Your Masques, Coded Languages, Magnu, Dust Of Time, Waiting For Tomorrow, Angels Of Death, Ghost Dance, Steppenwolf, Psychedelic Warlords, Social Alliance, Utopia, Arrival In Utopia, Solitary Mind Games, Sonic Attack, Dream Worker and Brainstorm. That was the main set of the show and was the night that Michael Moorcock guested and performed vocals on Warriors On The Edge Of Time and Coded Languages. The encore is, sadly, not included. The sleeve notes were written by me. Looking further ahead, other cds planned include the Live Warrior and studio albums by Hawkwind, Dave Brock and the Hawkwind Light Orchestra. Its nice to have things to look forward to. Hawkfan 41 is now out. Six pages of a visit to Mr. Dibs, delivering a birthday surprise (the Warrior box set which included the vinyl) a few days ahead of his birthday and all the other surprises which would head his way. Four pages of Hawkwind at Bedford and the rest given over to Damnation Alley, mostly about the 180 gram vinyl releases. I was surprised by how many there are. The cost is, including postage, £1.80 within the UK, £2.80 to the rest of Europe and £3.50 elsewhere. I continue to be amazed by the cost of mailing outside the UK. Thats it for now. I hope you all have a terrific Christmas and New Year, with all you wish for in 2015. Be of good cheer......Brian
