HELPDESK ADMINISTRATOR National Metrology Institute of South Africa - Pretoria, Gauteng HELPDESK ADMINISTRATOR Salary Range R 207 713 - R 259 641(All inclusive) PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To play a critical role in design, development, implementation, support and management of computer-based information systems ensuring that the end-user is able to perform efficiently using computer based equipment. The successful candidate must have a passion for precision and excellence understanding of Information and Communication Systems and who is willing to learn. The role will support and maintain all computer based systems and users, Networks, Servers and Printers. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE A relevant 3 year IT qualification (i.e. a degree or National Diploma). An A+, N+ certificate or MCSE, ITIL foundation will be advantageous. To be able to operate PC based systems at a reasonable level. Has knowledge of call management and has worked in a team managing user support for an IT Helpdesk. Understanding IT Service Management and turnaround times. Have understanding of Information Technology and Computer based systems. To have understanding of IP Based networks. Have sound knowledge of how to use Microsoft OS packages e.g. XP Professional or higher and Windows Server 2008 or higher. Have knowledge of and is experienced in the application of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Power Point. Understanding in Excel with Power Pivot will be advantageous. Be a team player with good communication skills. To be able to carry out instructions diligently. Be able to work independently or in a team. Passion for IT and a keen “willing to learn” attitude. MAJOR CHALLENGES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage IT Helpdesk as well as to ensure effective end-user support. Daily, weekly and monthly follow ups and management of open calls to ensure Service Level Agreements of turnaround times are met. Maintenance of the NMISA network to resolve any basic Network Access problems Maintenance of the Microsoft Active Directory. Maintain and support the Microsoft Outlook e-mail system. Respond to hardware problems (Server, PC, Network or Printers) to assist the end-user. Ensure end-users have the necessary access to their information repository using the Microsoft File share access and working environment using Impro Access Control. Respond to problems with regards to Disaster Recovery and Backup of data on Servers. Ensure that all NMISA Data is backed up on daily, weekly and monthly basis. Ensure that all Backup Tapes are managed correctly and collected on a monthly basis. Initiate a Disaster Recovery test every 3 months and that the process is properly audited. Ensure that all IT reports are collated on a weekly and monthly basis. Ensure all Desktop Operating Systems are up-to-date with the relevant Microsoft Patches and anti-virus signatures. Maintain NMISA websites on an ad-hoc basis. The individual best suited to this position will display a willingness to take charge and offer opinions and direction while maintaining a cooperative attitude. Responsible, Customer focused, and dependable in fulfilling obligations. Initiative is also required meaning a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges in a persistent manner. Although being independent and guiding oneself with little or no supervision or depending on oneself to get things done, the individual must have the ability to work with others in a team environment, are also required.
