Jeffery laughed, “Going to take a lot more than that to be a rancher” “Well, you never know what the future holds Jeffery, got a meeting with the sheriff, see you later” Stony walk in to the sheriff’s office’s and grabbed a cup of coffee on the way to Marks’s office. “Go right in, the sheriff is expecting you Stony” “Have a set Stony and let me fill you in on what is going on this morning”, and he began tell Stony. “Billy Jo had been found dead this morning when a friend show up to go on a gold mining trip with him, the motorhome and Subaru it was towing was found behind the barn, Belongs to a man by the name of Denny Carlson, clean record, a couple of complaints of harassment by women that went nowhere, it seems he lived in the motorhome, an old address that was his parents, his had died and we are trying to run down his Mom, we tied his phone to all the people killed and are checking with next of kin and neighbor to see if they know anything, Billy Jo had an almost new motorhome and a 63 jeep CJ-5 that he restored and looks better than new, we a APB out for it in the state about all we can do for now, the news people will be here a 10 am for a new release, want you to handle it, well got to keep the Governor happy, don’t we” smiling he said, “he holds the purse strings” Stony prepared for the news conference with all the known facts, walk out to the front on the steps of sheriff’s offices. There were the sheriff, a captain and a couple of lieutenants all in dress uniform’s looking their best, the Sheriff welcome every one and introduced those at the podium, then turn it over to Stony, “Good morning and welcome every one, we think we have found the person responsible for the car fires that have killed ten people, seems he is a deranges person, and a coward and we will find him and being him to justice,” going on to telling everything they knew about him and what they believed him to be driving, “the Sheriff’s office will be passing around picture’s we found at Billy Jo house of his motorhome and Jeep we need the public’s help in finding this man, he is very cunning and very dangerous and is not to be approached, just back off and call the authorities , Thank you for all your help” Denny was sitting in a bar in Stayton Oregon where he had rented a space in and old run down trailer park under Billy Jo name and he was furious at hearing himself described as deranged as he watched the noon telecast of the news, He got off his stool and went to the jeep and back to the motorhome and got on the internet, typing in the name Stony Bridges, he spent the next 24 hours straight, finding his wife and his kids Facebook accounts and was still trying find a home address for him, He spent hours On Heidi’s book account where you could go to the find things about the author and comment on here books, leaving a comment, you are not safe, I’m coming for you, “That should make her pee her pants” Denny was thinking to himself, giggling. Denny had gone to all the funerals of those he killed, gave him a good feeling knowing that those that had spurned him had paid the price of rejecting him , and he had gotten the address of the mother off the guest book at the funeral of the first women that rejected him, she had to be the one that gave the first picture of his motorhome and Subaru, he recognized, where the picture was taken, across the street as he was watching their house,, Yes she had to pay, and she would. He rented an older car from a couple that had an old run down 12 foot wide trailer, made some time in the 60’s and short of money, amazing what a couple of hundred buck will do. He went west on hi-way 22, then south on I-5, Sutherlin bound, his mind working on just how he would make her pay, it was all her fault. Stony was going through Denny old motorhome with a fine tooth comb, finding notes and plans for killing people he thought wronged him, going clear back to his grade school days, his first car fire he found in the notes were his father and mother, they were mean and controlling and had to go, and there was the 50 dollar insurance, that helped him live for several years without working. Physicist, were brought in to analyze, him try to get a handle on his think, he was a monster, it was not if he would kill again, but when. Stony sat at the desk in the office supplied by the Sheriff dept. looking at the pictures of the two picture of the motorhomes that were shown on TV and in the papers, then it hit him, would Denny put together where the first picture came from’ he had a feeling in the pit of his stomach that Birdie was in trouble. “Mike, I’m going to Sutherlin and see Birdie, I don’t feel she’s safe,” “Who knows what that crazy Bastard will do next, be careful?” Stony got in his explorer and headed south on I-5, passing and old Buick that was pulling off the freeway at Creswell, not knowing it was Denny on his way to Birdie’s. Hank sat Jeffery and Sandy down at the kitchen table after he got back to town and had asked Sandy to make some coffee, “Here, read this together and then we can talk” They read the last will and testament of Hank, leaving everything to Jeffery and Sandy to be shared equally. After they were through and handed it back to grandpa, Jeffery responded, ”how can you do this, this ranch is worth millions, you could sell it and go live in Hawaii in luxury the rest of your life, I bet Betty would be happy to add it to her ranch” “I have no want to go to Hawaii, leave alone live there, this ranch is all I’ve ever known Kids, I was born here, right in this house, My folks are buried here, as I will be, and I want someone who loves this place as much as I do, to have it, to be stewards as I have been, it’s a good ranch and I know you both will care for it as I have, I guess that’s the best way I can explain it” Sandy went to grandpa with tears in her eyes, “Thank you grandpa, just don’t try to leave just yet, you are still a young man with a lot of life left, and what about Wilma, she’s got her sights set on you” giggling. “She is a nice lady, little young for me I think” “Age is just a number” Jeff said. ”That’s what Wilma says” hank laughed. Now, lets go and saddle up and take a ride, I feel I have been neglecting this ranch to long, we need to think about making a ranch again out of it, it need s to be productive again,” They rode and talked about the kids going to College and the running of the ranch at the same time, of maybe hiring a ranch hand to help me when you kids are away, of fixing up the old ranch house and bringing it into the twenty first century, new siding, new electrical, plumbing, new kitchen, granite counter tops, “I have my feeler’s out for more cattle, I feel invigorated again, like a young man, that’s what you kids are giving me a new life to this old body, “You must have figured out I love you, your grandma and I couldn’t have kids, wish she could be here now “tears running down his cheeks freely feeling no shame as her looked to the clouds like he was looking at his wife. Jeffery and Sandy dismounted at the same time. “Come here grandpa” Hank stood with his back leaning on his horse with the two kids hugging him and bond that only death would break was made that day.
