HEY! Check out this cool new actors apprenticeship program at TheatreWorks! TheatreWorks is delighted to announce an exciting new pilot program for pre-professional actors. Six actors will be chosen to join the TheatreWorks team for three months as Artistic Engagement Apprentices from August 1 to November 8, 2014. The apprentices will perform in our production of SWEENEY TODD as the centerpiece of their time here, under the direction of Artistic Director Robert Kelley and Musical Director William Liberatore, working side by side with our professional cast. We have designed this program to also give the apprentices a broader view of the way a LORT theatre is put together. As Artistic Engagement Apprentices, they will observe and work with our New Works, Education, Marketing and Development Staff. For example, they will participate in our New Works Festival in August and will contact schools about our Education touring shows. Were looking for exceptional applicants with the insight of an actor, the precision of a crew member, the patience of a box office rep, the dedication of an educator and the people skills of a development staffer. In addition to acting skills, were looking for curiosity, enthusiasm, good phone manners, familiarity with social media platforms, the physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds, and an understanding of basic word-processing and spreadsheet programs. The apprentices will receive a travel stipend during their first six weeks, and will be on Non-Equity contracts for the run of SWEENEY TODD, in non-speaking, non-singing roles.
