And, driving a vehicle can be very exciting, but can also be dangerous for teens with very little experience. Im excited to share this important information with parents and grandparents that have made a commitment to providing young drivers with very specific training to help them increase their driving skills, learn how to navigate roads in poor weather conditions, and to gain much-needed confidence behind the wheel. Parents please note, you are required to attend both of these classes to learn with your child. Drive2Survive: Advanced Defensive Drivers Education Clinic Taught by Professional Law Enforcement Trainers Details: Instruction by those who know the road best… the National Institute of Vehicle Dynamics is proud to offer the Drive2Survive Advanced Safety & Collision Avoidance Training Clinic featuring a Parent and Teen educational opportunity and true-to-life drivers training in a controlled and safe environment, taught by professional Law Enforcement driving trainers. • Learn how to drive and survive during adverse weather conditions • Skid control, speed control, off-road recovery and steering techniques • Pro-active/defensive driving and collision avoidance techniques • Reduce incidents of panic and gain confidence behind the wheel DAY 1: Parent and Teen Class Thursday, October 16th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm HazTrain Inc. Training Room, 3460 Rockefeller Court, Waldorf, MD Distracted Driving Presentation, “In the Blink of an Eye” how to identify and minimize in-car distractions, how to overcome bad judgment behind the wheel, the impact of Drinking & Driving, talking & texting on phones and much more. At least one parent is required to attend this lecture with your young driver. DAY 2: Teen In-Car Course Training: Cars are provided by Drive2Survive Saturday, October 18th, 7:30 am to 12:30 pm | Blue Crabs, Regency Stadium In-car instructors demonstrate the exercises while students ride along. Once the instructor’s demonstration is completed, the student drives as the instructor personally coaches them through the various advanced training courses. To reduce incidents of panic during emergency situations and driver error, teen drivers will learn: skid control, off-road recovery and steering techniques; serpentine, threshold braking, braking/turn, speed control; proactive/defensive driving and collision avoidance techniques; how to minimize injury when a crash is unavoidable, and much more. Our program is unique as it provides you and your child with a strong bonding and educational shared experience.
