HIGH STAKES AT THE PORT REPLACES TOM HAGER MEMORIAL AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY Bridgeport, NJ (September 6, 2013) – With another week of racing that exceeds the local township ordinance, the Bridgeport Speedway management was forced to cancel the Tom Hager Memorial slated for Wednesday, September 11. In its place, a new event, High Stakes at the Port, will be held on Saturday, October 5. This three-division race card will have the fourth hands of the Poker Series for the Big Block Modifieds and the Crate/Sportsman. “In our Poker Series events, the fourth card could make or break some hands. It will definitely be ‘High Stakes’ for the drivers on this night,” commented track promoter Keith Hoffman. The mighty modifieds will battle it out in a 35-lap main event with $3,000 going to the victor and $250 to take the green. A 20-lap Crate/Sportsman feature will give the winner an ‘Ace’ in the Poker Series along with $750 and $100 will be awarded to start the finale. Attendance at this event is not mandatory to be eligible for the Poker Series point fund. The full-fendered Outlaw Stock Cars round out the race docket with the top finisher of the 15-lap race taking home $400 and the take the green money being $50. Qualifying events in all three classes will precede the running of feature events and starting lineups for the heat races will be determined by pill draw. A demolition derby will close out the night of action. On Saturday, October 5, the pit gates unlock at 4:00 p.m. and the grandstand ticket window opens at 5:00 p.m. Racing will get underway at 6:30 p.m. Fans (16 and older) will be admitted for $20 with student (10-15) tickets priced at $10. Children 9 and under are free. Pit admission is $35. Bridgeport Speedway provides a safe and secure family atmosphere, free parking, giveaways, and fan participation games. As a premier racing complex, Bridgeport Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and is located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania and Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295.
