HIGHER EVERYDAY: A DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE FOR YOUTHS Higher Everyday Thursday, January 22 2015 TITLE : A BURDENED YOUTH TEXT:“Their heart cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease.” (Lamentations 2:18) In 1905, Dr J. Edwin Orr, a historian of religious revivals, cited the conversion of an estimated 59,950 of Atlanta City’s population of 60,000; the closing of 200 stores in Portland, Oregon, so that employees could attend noon-day meetings, and a wave of 20,000 young people volunteering to be missionaries. The greatest impact, Dr Orr said, was in Wales, where churches were jammed every night and where crimes were almost non-existent for 18 months. About an Indonesian Revival, Dr Orr revealed that courts were closed down and the police had nothing to do for lack of criminals. There were instances where almost the entire inhabitants of a city were converted and a census could have well been made by counting the number of people in the church on a Sunday as there would be little error. No revival occurs in secret. When it occurs in any nation, such a nation would know. Where are your lost tears over the lost millions of youths at your doorsteps? You are saved to have compassion on them. Challenge: Join the faithful ‘praying ministry’ to stand in the gap. Prayer:Father, my heart’s desire and prayer are that all be saved.
