HIS WORD:STORED IN MY HEART FIRST & THEN IN MY MIND Brethren, - TopicsExpress

HIS WORD:STORED IN MY HEART FIRST & THEN IN MY MIND Brethren, Christians,& believers, the emphasis in the memorization of Bible passages, is a vital skill for THE children of our Lord & Savior to gain. Some of us are easily discouraged by Satan when we try to memorize scripture, then find that in a day or two it is gone from our memory. On that note we must remember there is more than one level of memory in our brains. When we repeat a verse over and over for a few minutes, its entered into our short-term memory. We can recall it that day, but it may be gone tomorrow. If we re-memorize it tomorrow and repeat it over and over, then do that same thing for several days or even a week or so, then it finally enters into our mid-term memory. Then we can recall that verse every day for some time. However if we forget about it for a month or so, we lost it again. Then there are those verses or passages that we seemingly never forget--like John 3:16 for most people. Why can we recall that verse at any time? Thats because we have repeated and heard it so often, that it has finally entered into our long-term memory. The key to remembering a verse or passage any time is (getting it into our heart as well as our heads) centers on repetition, but also involves meditation (Ps. 119:11). To meditate is to carefully dissect a passage word by word or phrase by phrase and spend some time thinking about it, praying about it, asking God about it, and mentally looking for ways it touches our life. Use the spare moments of your day or night when your mind is not actively engaged in work or conversation with others to meditate upon verses you have memorized. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5) Make Gods Word an active part of your ever-day life, your final authority for all you do, say, and believe. For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12) Treat Gods word with respect. Give heed to the solemn warning in Revelation 22:18-19 concerning adding to or taking away from the message God has given. Then you will be able to say with confidence and faith, I have examined the Scriptures. In finishing this Id like to express, that I know this to be factual, not only because its true it also works, having gone through several brain surgeries, & spending 6 months in the hospital by medical science I should never be able to do such a thing. But by the grace & mercy of my Lord Jesus Christ, I am able to quote scripture as I see fit. And of course the ones Ive memorized & have stored in my heart. To God Be the Glory, Tommy
