HOMESTEAD PARK DEDICATION RESCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 28: September 23, 2013 – (Greeley, CO) – The City of Greeley’s Culture, Parks, and Recreation Department rescheduled the Homestead Park and Open Space dedication to Saturday September 28. Ribbon cutting will be at 11am with informational booths, giveaways, free activities and presentations until 1pm. Homestead Park is located at 3699 29th Street in Greeley (behind Home Depot). Homestead Park and Open Space, formerly the Elks Club Golf Course, was deeded to the City in 2002 in conjunction with the development of Elks Lake Shopping Center. Playground, amphitheatre, bridge, dock, shelters and public art have been added to over 32-acres of open space. Designed by Olsson Associates and constructed by Goodland Construction Inc., this park offers something special to Greeley residents. Lakes, cattails, native grasses, and 1-mile of concrete and aggregate paths set the stage for a unique urban wildlife experience. Families will be able to explore the park and new playground area on Saturday, September 14 from 11am-1pm and participate in nature tours, bird watching, bouldering with the Greeley Recreation Center’s climbing staff, chalk art with the Greeley Art Commission, hands-on crafts by Home Depot, as well as browse through the informational and interactive booths provided by the University of Colorado Health’s Aspen Club and Healthy Kids Club, Colorado Division of Wildlife, Natural Grocers and more! For additional information contact Sarah Boyd, Park Planner by phone 970.336.4180 or via email at Sarah.Boyd@Greeleygov.
