HORSE 9 - Youth Central Youth Central’s horse was designed and painted by youth volunteers who have a passion for art and community. This dedicated and very talented group of youth gave up their weekend and several evenings to complete the horse. The words chosen represent how they feel about Youth Central and Calgary. They hope to inspire others to give back to make Calgary an even more vibrant and socially conscious city. Youth Central is a dynamic and creative organization with the mission to inspire, engage, and celebrate youth through community participation. Through 9 innovative programs, youth from ages 12 to 18 can volunteer with various community agencies, join a foundation to learn about philanthropy and granting, serve on various leadership committees, plan community events, blog about local issues, “vote” for Calgary’s Mayor, and voice their opinions to community leaders. For over 20 years these programs have offered youth the opportunity to learn about the value of giving back and gain important life skills such as leadership, decision making, responsibility, and increased self-esteem.
