HOUSE CLEANING 2Chronicles 29:1-19 During the end of the year,it is usual to see people wash walls,strip floors,paint their homes,clean their windows,wipe cupboards,defrost the refrigerator/freezer,wash curtains,steam-clean the carpets,sanitize the bathroom,clean out the garage,reorganize the closets,take junk to the dump,pile bags of papers and boxes of unwanted items by the road for the garbage men to haul away.This is called house cleaning. It is important that we do it because the house smells fresh and clean again. The dust is removed from the curtains, the floor starts shinning again. The awful smell that you perseive whenever you open the kitchen cupboard,will no longer be there. The refrigerator that causes embarrassment will be taken care of. The unwanted materials will be taken away the house. This is what John the Baptist was saying when he quoted Isaiah 40:3 Prepare the way for the Lord make His paths straight. Let every valley be filled in,every mountain and hill be laid low.Let every cliff become a plain,and the ridges a valley;then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all mankind shall see it Isaiah 40:1-4. This was what Hezekiah did in 2Chronicles 29.The twelve kings before him did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.They declined morally,spiritually, politically and socially. This was why Hezekiah told the Levities, consecrate yourself now and consecrate the temple of the Lord the God of your fathers.Remove all defilement from the sanctuary. He began by opening the doors of the temple. This is what we do when we want to clean a house whose window and doors were locked. Verse 1-3. The next thing Hezekiah did was,remove the fifth from the temple.In verse 16 and 17,The priest went into the sanctuary of the Lord to purify it. They brought out everything that was unclean and brought them out to the Kidron Valley. They removed the dirt,filth and stench accumulated,the Levites also rearranged the temple of the Lord and burnt the dirt. This practice is what we need to adopt today. Remember we are the temple of the Lord,1Corinthians 3:16;1Corinthians 6:19. Does your temple need cleaning? Dont clean only your house,or houses,clean your temple also this end of the year. Whatever you dont want again in your life,do not carry it over to next year. May the Lord cleanse your house for you in Jesus Name.Amen. Prayer: Pray to God to re-organize your life.
