HOW GODLINESS FACILITATE FULFILMENT OF PROPHECIES - Bishop David Oyedepo We saw Gods plan unveiled to a man called Noah in Genesis 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. 6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 6:12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Noah was a just man and perfect in his generation. God said He was going to destroy human race but Noah found favour because righteousness engedas favour. In Gen 7:11,12 &24,the water prevailed on the earth,there was rain for forty days and forty nights and human race was wipe off the surface of the earth but in Gen 8:1-2,5&9, God remembered Noah and the water levelled. How did it happen? Godliness was the facilitator of the fulfilment of prophecy. Godliness remains the fundamental requirement for the fulfilment of prophecy. Zechariah 7:13 Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts. Until we obey Him,we cannot commit Him. When we walk in obedience we naturally commit Him. Godliness brought Noah to realise the fulfilment of prophecy. Another case is Eli. Eli children were sons of Belial. 1 Samuel 2:12 Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD. 2:27 And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaohs house? 2:28 And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel? 2:29 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people? 2:30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed. 2:31 Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy fathers house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house. Prophecy aborted . When you dont respond with fear to His correction, you disqualify yourself for the fulfilment of prophecy. Lets see how Eli responded. 1Samuel 3:11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle. 3:12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end. 3:13 For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. 3:14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Elis house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever. 3:18 And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good. His two sons and himself die in one day. Lineage terminated, prophecy aborted. Therefore,whatever God is showing you now,responf with fear so you can experience the fulfilment of prophecy. ....the iniquity which he knoweth.., You cannot be lying and not know. You cannot be immoral and not know. You cannot be bitter and not know. Because Eli did not about the iniquity of his son which he knoweth,prophecy was aborted. Righteousness gave Noah the fulfilment of prophecy,ungodliness aborted prophecy in the life of Eli. Eli defines the correction of the Lord and the priesthood of his household was aborted. Understand also that we must beware of belated repentance ; repenting too late and repenting when is no longer count. Esau repented but it was too late. Hebrews 12:16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 12:17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. Judas also repented but was too late. Matthew 27:3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 27:4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. 27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. Everytime will return,God is committed to restore. When the prodigal son returned, his father restored him. For everyone with genuine repentance, your restoration is guaranteed tonight. 1John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Beware of belated repentance. Let us also recognise that once sanctify does not mean always sanctify. Ezekiel 18:23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live? 18:32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye. Sanctification is a life time journey. Prayer and praise are strong forces for the fulfilment of prophecy. 1Timothy 1:18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare. And also we saw how praise brought about the fulfilment of prophesy in 2Chro.20. So,these are vital forces for the fulfilment of prophesy but understand that prayer is impotent without godliness. Psalms 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. Praise is reduced to a mere noise without holiness. Amos 5:23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. 5:24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. Godliness may be costly but the end result is priceless. Most crisis of the believers is traceable to ungodliness. We are on the journey to Canaan. May God be pleased with you on everyday of the journey. One thing i believe is this; between now and Shiloh, there shall amazing series of event in your life. Whatever remains of the balance of exceeding grace prophecies shall be fully delivered to you in name of Jesus. Shout Hallelujah!
