HPL X ‘The Rail’ Week 17 Stuart Dry For those of you who are - TopicsExpress

HPL X ‘The Rail’ Week 17 Stuart Dry For those of you who are not aware, Stuart Dry, one of our most popular members tragically passed away last week. The funeral service for Stuart will be held at Stonefall Crematorium at 12 noon on Tuesday and I’m sure some of you would like to join me to pay your respects to our late friend. After the service the family have decided on a small private family gathering and we of course will respect that. The Harrogate Poker League members are invited to celebrate Stuart’s life with a drink (or two) at the Starbeck Cons club directly after the service. We aim to perpetuate Stuart’s name with the new ‘dry Hand’ of J3 as these were the cards involved in his most coveted poker achievement. Week 17 With only three weeks to go in the league, there are a huge number of places available for the impending finals night and many of us will be scrambling to avoid the hyper-tense semi-final play offs. One or two leagues appear to be just about decided whilst some are too close to call. At the Beagle on Mondays it’s between Jamie Burton, Jonny Hewison & Sam Bland whilst at the High Harrogate it looks to be a straight two way battle between Ivan Gray and Paul Underwood. Chris Baird is looking over his shoulder at the Harlow Hill Club Tuesday League as any one the top five could snatch it away from him in the last couple of weeks and at the Dagger only 1.33 points separate Julie Goundry and Linzi Underwood but third placed Mick Lawson could yet spoil the end of season celebrations there with a alter push. The Ex-Servicemen’s Club Wednesday league seems to be between Jamie Kelly & Craig Underhay whilst at the Angel in Wetherby James Ellaby looks to have timed his challenge to perfection, much to the chagrin of long-time leader Nigel Morris. 6.66 Points is now the gap at the top of the table at the Harlow Friday League but third placed Maria Gilmour is far from out of it. The Rascals Hair Design Global League has been decided a long time and with 2.25 million points Matt Dodds has this one in the bag. The EPS sponsored Fantasy Poker League is heading for its tightest finish yet as Charlotte Thwaites, Matt Dodds, Gerald Purcell and Jonathon Pearson scrap for the top four prize money places. Roadshow 9th November The next roadshow will be held on the 9th of November at Harlow Hill Club. Whilst this is a free entry for all of the FPL managers it is open to all comers and the buy-in is £5 + £1. As the managers have pre-paid a prize fund of £285 is already in the pot. The tournament will start at 6pm, starting stacks will be 50k and the evening will be punctuated by the first ever Lindsay Builders Lottery Draw, so someone will be £500.00 richer by the end of the evening. Lindsay Builders Lottery Sales have been encouraging in the first weeks of our new lottery and now exceed £330.00, and pre-sales for next month stands at £51.00; full details, accounts and results can be found on the web at harrogatepoker.co.uk/lottery.htm You can also now order your numbers for future draws at … harrogatepoker.co.uk/lotterynumbersselector.htm Winter League As we approach the end of our tenth season I thought it would be good to remind you all that the winter league starts directly after the end of the season and we will not have a break in poker until the 21st December. As always points will be accumulated and exchanged for chips for the final on 29th December and Lindsay Builders Ltd will be adding £100.00 to the prize fund. We also have a new venue joining the ranks at the start of the Winter league as Harrogate Town FC will stage tournaments on a Monday at their newly refurbished 1919 bar.
