HSI eAlert _____ Dear Reader, If youve thought all the hoopla about GMO foods was just because crunchy granola hippies hate innovation as much as they hate showering, you arent alone. But it turns out there is one very real, insipid danger from GMOs that you cant afford to ignore. New evidence shows that you could be increasing Alzheimers risk with every single bite you take of these mystery foods. And heres why... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The last Roundup -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nearly all GMO crops are GMO for one reason. Theyre modified so they can be drenched with Roundup weed killer. One problem... The weed-killing chemical in Roundup (glyphosate) saturates the crops. When we eat those crops -- either as plants or as ingredients in processed foods -- our bodies absorb glyphosate. That means that if you eat processed foods that include soy, sugar, corn, wheat, or canola, youre eating glyphosate. You could say that most people are on a glyphosate diet, but they never know it. Now, there are all kinds of ways glyphosate could be doing us harm. But there are two ways that researchers warn us this poison could increase our risk of Alzheimers... 1) Glyphosate inhibits an enzyme the body uses to get rid of toxins. This pumps up inflammation that damages cellular systems in your brain. 2) Glyphosate binds minerals, which impedes the absorption of zinc. Zinc deficiency is one of the key markers for Alzheimers. You can start reducing the risk of Alzheimers by kicking GMO out of your diet. It seems impossible but an easy first step is to avoid processed foods that contain the five key ingredients I mentioned above: soy, sugar, corn, wheat, and canola -- and arent labeled certified non-GMO. The next step is to get more specific. You can do that with the Non-GMO Shopping Guide . In two dozen food categories, the guide lists many brands and products. Youll find that a lot of these foods are on your grocers shelves right now. You just need to know which ones to choose to protect yourself from this latest threat.
