HUMANITY. is directed by passions and reasons. the passion are the driving force. while reason being employed to devise ways and means of providing for their satisfaction. if people passions were allowed free rein. they would use any means at their disposal including force an fraud to satisfy them an the net result would be war at all against all. Guided by the desire for self preservation. people agree to restrain their passions. give up their liberty and enter into a social contract with their fellows. they submit to the authority of a ruller or governing body in return for protection against the aggression. force an fraud of others. only because of this sovereign power is the war of all agaunst all is prevented and security and order is been established in a society
