HUMBLE PIE!!!!!!!! First a wee personal story.....In the 1970s I worked in Saudi Arabia. As happens in thes climatic conditions one day I had to visit a local doctor with a slight tummy disorder.I found him to be a charming young Saudi very affable.Upon hearing that my origins were Scottish,he expressed his delight at the news as he had enrolled for further studies at EDINBURGH UNIVERSITYHe went on to speak about this institution in glowing terms, having heard through the grapevine of the international acclaim it has received throughout its history.I will now seek to establish the link between this item and the theme of my message..... \\\\\\\on Monday I watched an interview of Nicola Sturgeon in which the lady revealed that she had been in touch with the .P.M regarding the transfer of the unfortunate Ebola suffering nurse from Glasgow to London(Of all places).I am left wondering if the D.C.side of the conversation went like this?????? Hello Ms.Sturgeon I understand that,as your country does not possess the modern up to date facilities to deal with this type of outbreak, therefore you are BEGGINGus to carry out the proposed transference to our SUPERIORLondon facility. You people amaze me,surely this confirms what we have been stating for this past couple of years that we are BETTER TOGETHER.Just another quote which is highly pertinent to the point I seek to establish.... The Scottish people have given the world an enormous wealth of creativity and inventive genius out of all proportion to their numbers Unquote. The above from the rear cover of the excellent book by TOM STEEL..SCOTLAND`S STORYIncluded in the nation`s historic contribution to the worlds benifit is that off MEDICAL SCIENCE. Is it not tragic that a country with such a proud history should have to seek the help of another nation???????? David. Saor Alba.
