HUNGER GAMES:MOCKINGJAY PART 1. Alike many series films, Hunger Games surfers from the all to much similar hangover of elongated storyline which hopes to keep you entertained with flashy bells and whistles of riding on its popularity and recycled punchlines. Dont get me wrong, Mockingjay is not a bad film, at times offering a decent flow and interesting locations/backdrop upon which main characters operate. Its shortcoming is that once you have seen couple of these films prior to this one from this series...more must be presented to the general public in order to stimulate a positive and upbeat response. (see Transformers, Pirates, Lord of the Rings) Jennifer Lawrence in one of her worst performances here is actually annoying at times, and supporting cast, however steady, gives no lift to subpar performances. Its a storyline that is stuck in between the beginning and end. As the paint dries, you keep wondering...are there cliff notes before I see the last installment? Few positives are scene locations and well done action sequences, many of which underline a nice tone giving the feature much needed face lift. In the end, Mockingjay is ok, and surely a hit financially, however it leaves much to be desired from the artistic perspective. RED CURTAIN RATING: 6/10 OK #mockingjay #hungergames
