HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM ADEQUATELY HYDRATED? 1) Thirst (this mechanism does not precisely gauge the bodies state of dehydration). 2) Urine Colour (deep yellow may indicate hypohydration, riboflavin vitamin may cause deep yellow urine colour). 3) Body Weight changes (rapid body mass changes are due to body water reduction or gain). ***WE COVERED BENEFITS OF HYDRATION WITHIN A PREVIOUS POST (Approx. 1 week ago - see below). Adverse effects of Dehydration... 1 % = Threshold of thirst & impairment of thermoregulation during exercise. 2 % = Increased thirst, discomfort & reduction in appetite 3 % = Dry mouth, reduction in blood plasma volume & decreased urinary output 4 % = 20 - 30 % (approx.) reduction in physical work capacity. 5 % = Impaired cognitive processing, headache(s), impatience & sleepiness. 6 % = Severe impairment of thermoregulation during exercise. 7 % = Likely collapse if combined with heat & exercise.
