Had a Blessed Day today. My church family at All Souls celebrated Ocie and my birthdays with lunch and our favorite cakes. His was caramel and mine double chocolate. Delicious! Spent the rest of the afternoon with my chosen sister, Shirley, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the choir at New Macedonia Baptist Church. The choir was magnificent along with the four guest choirs. So much joy in the sanctuary! The sweetest thing was watching the choirs sing along during the performances. It was worship and fellowship at the highest level. You might wonder why a practicing Unitarian would be at home and consoled by gospel music. I am a child of the South. We absorb the spirituality in music through the soles of our feet. Unitarian Principles tell us to respect and honor the traditions of others, so following the principles, I clapped and added my voice to the "Joyful Noise." There are a lot of talented musicians in Chicago and I was surrounded by them today. Thank God!
