Had a great time Celebrating the Arts at The Heritage Center with a lot of very talented high school students from Ware Co. High. The sports and athletic departments will always get lots of hype, I mean people swarm the stadium by the hundreds to watch a football game and pack the bleachers at ballgames. But not enough people see and hear what I did tonight. I saw art that could hang in galleries. It was amazing! I heard a boy read a poem about His South that had the whole room in tears. This young man, wearing his camo and boots, gave us a first hand look at his life. Which is a variation of everyone elses who is just trying to get by and has had some losses, but at the same time making the most out of everything and learning things about himself and others along the way. I have never been so moved! One girls first person view of bullying. She was so open, honest, and in the end remorseful. She held nothing back. Another girl who writes great poetry. Again it was amazing! I heard great music from some of our own Golden Gators. They never cease to amaze me! Some great drama written by the student himself. Probably will see him on stage one day! And some awesome singing. Those young people sing so unbelievably well! The girls were like songbirds and those guys rocked it! One song was even in German! And they ended the evening by singing The Irish Blessing. Loved every moment of it!
