Had an epiphany the other day at just how much my dog Breeks and I - TopicsExpress

Had an epiphany the other day at just how much my dog Breeks and I are alike. How misunderstood we both are. We have vicious facial expressions and threatening body language. We mumble and snarl and bark and the whole world runs away in fear. People label us as nasty and vicious and I am sure that I too have been on Death Row, and certainly more than twice! BUT for those people who put in the effort and take the time to look past our superficial, to see and understand what motivates us, what our passions are, who see the dedication and joy and exuberance we have for life, they learn that we are actually just frustrated, big hearted, softies who would just love to cuddle up with you, spend time with you, and lick your face. They too see what wonderful souls we have and receive the bountiful pleasures of sharing in our journey through life. They see what matters most , our values and morals and ethics, and ignore or forgive the rest as they truly understand that that is just WHO WE ARE and that we are NEVER going to change. As for the rest, who are intimidated or scared or who just could not be bothered to think a little deeper and ask yourself "WHY do they act that way?" you just walk by our cage, not giving us a chance, not even a second thought. Or even worse - you kick the chain link fence and tell us how awful we are. Well, you are missing out. I for one would not trade my little "vicious death row" dog for all the money in the world and I know that my truest of friends feel the exact same way about me. I have a wonderful fulfilling life with people who understand and love and cherish me. Maybe that is why it was so easy for me to rescue Breeks. Kindred souls. Understanding is the highest form of true love.
