Had the sketchiest line Ive ever had through Carnage gorge in the weekend! This committing gorge is always scary because rapids on the West coast are so prone to debris movement and change. Named Carnage gorge because on the first descent of this run it was exactly that - With both of the paddlers being forced to swim at the same time in the backed up weir type hydraulic. For years after this, Carnage gorge has been a portage, Adding a 2 hour gruelling bush bash to what was already one of the more challenging days on the coast. Thankfully for the last 5 years Carnage has granted us safe passage but in the last couple of seasons the line has started to get more difficult again. Who knows what changes the next flood will bring?
