Hah, hard to grasp, but believe it or not, you are actually looking at the shape of Space in our Uni-Verse, its hyperbolic, like the Calgary Saddledome, or, well, a saddle Rest easy, it does the same thing in every direction chosen, at any point known in the whole gig, its the Mathematical Function (Hyperbolic) that fits our Uni-Verse and no, you will not eventually get back to where you started, why, cause we aint the only Mono-Verse in the Multi-Verse,... We call it an Open Uni-Verse (universe) where space is expanding at an accelerating pace, and it tells us the Uni-Verse will not collapse back in upon itself in what we call the Big Crunch, the opposite is happening, everything is moving away from everything else and eventually, like a gazillion gazillion gazillion years from now Galaxies will be isolated from each other, some peeps even think atoms will eventually break apart and well, the Uni-Verse will suffer what we call the Big Chill, me, I dont subscribe to that at all, why, I know the Galaxies, on their own local level and sometimes in groups, have strong enough Gravity (curvature of space) to survive the Big Chill, and BTW, who said Big Bangs only come in solo shots, sure wasnt me,... I say the exact opposite, infinite Big Bangs, Infinite Mono-Verse, and we are in but 1 of em, our Uni-Verse,... Yeah, its that big !!!
