Hail the mighty American sycamore. Pure Spirit Great, medium - TopicsExpress

Hail the mighty American sycamore. Pure Spirit Great, medium to fast growing large shade tree, likes moist conditions, but is adaptable - wonderful camouflage bark - beautiful large greeney-grey leaves. Pollution resistant and adaptable. A beautiful and tough native tree - great for streets, parks and landscape. the large leaves, seed-pods and its susceptibility to an anthracnose that causes some twig drop make some folk think its a bit of a messy tree - the hybrid London plane tree is known to be more resistant to the twig drop disease. Always plant native when you can though - those plants are best adapted with our birds, insects, other wildlife and weather - when planting please think of our wildlife neighbours. Species of finch, Siskin, kinglet, chickadee, and cardinal will feed on the seed through winter. This ones so white - more so than most - collected seed - if it comes hereditary - we could have something special here. Sycamore are known for their exfoliating tan-grey and white bark, but Usually when these trees reach this age - the lower bark becomes rough and scaled. If the seedlings hold the excessive white-trait - man oh man - were naming it - Pure Spirits American sycamore seems appropriate to me!. Kasia Zgurzynski ;) :). (Could be that the more exposed location that the tree grows in - has reason to do with the extra white bark - high winds, etc causing more exfoliation, thus the exceptional white colour). Thanks for such an amazing weekend oh visits, tree hunting, maple syrup boiling and GOOD GOOD times! Was abducted (;))for a weekend in Sarnia-ish. sleeping the night in fold out bunk beds in a small cabin in the woods. Maples syrup boiling Down on the fire outside...
