Hailey Anns Story started October 2011..She went to A Knoxville football game with her dad and started throwing up on the way down..when she got to the game she was still throwing up,had a headache and couldnt stay awake..she slept through most of the game..I took her to our family doctor on Monday Oct.3rd, he drew blood and everything showed up fine, so he thought it might be a virus. If she wasnt better by the next day he wanted to see her back in his office..we go back no better and calls her pediatrician to get a second opinion..we go to Murfreesboro they run tests and think it could be Mono, possibly Meningitis which was all ruled out and ended up being diagnosed as adolescent migraines.. she gets a shot and a prescription..went home no better so for 2 weeks we go back and forth till finally I tell them something has to be dome so they order an MRI..Before we make it back home they call us to come back... She had a brain tumor the size of a tennis ball..my world fell apart..We were scheduled to go to CHildrens Vanderbilt 8 am in the morning Oct 14th..we went in the middle of the night she was hurting so bad..over the next 2 weeks we had a tube put in her head to drain the fluid and on Oct 20th she had a 7 hour surgery to remove the tumor...some had to be left because it was intimate with her brain stem..she had to have a permanent shunt put in her head to drain the fluid off her brain and wait for the news on the type of tumor and if it was cancerous..it came back malignant and was Glioblastoma multiforme..a form of cancer that is found mostly in men over the age of 50...a very aggressive cancer that cannot be given one day and is not as common in children...after 6 weeks of radiation and a year of chemo the spots were gone and in January of 2013 we were cancer free!! we went back in May and a tiny spot was there her Doctor waited till the End of June another MRI showed it had grown to the size of the end of a pencil eraser..so surgery was scheduled for July 16 2013..the surgeon removed the whole tumor, which had grown to the size of a grape in 2 weeks..removing the whole tumor caused weakness on the whole left size, resulting in a month long stay for healing and Rehab..We came home August 16th and started Chemo August 22nd for a year till August 2014..we are still in therapy,Hailey has physical therapy 3 times a week and is doing good except for weakness in her left arm and hand..and some short term memory loss..everyday is a blessing and she is truly an inspiration to me and many others she has came across along this journey..We will forever be grateful to the family and friends that has supported us along the way
