The Power of the Most High Will Overshadow You There have been all sorts of wild and sickeningly abominable false teachings about how the virgin Mary became pregnant with the baby Jesus. They are too evil and disgusting to even mention. In considering the miraculous birth of our Lord Jesus, one needs to look at what God says. God Almighty is the holy One — we are the weak, clueless sinners. God is the most righteous. He cannot lie or sin in any way. So, it is what He says that we must accept, if we care one smidgeon about truth. When the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would bear the Christ child, she herself wondered how this would happen. In Luke 1:34-37 it records, And Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God. And behold, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month. For nothing will be impossible with God. Here is Mary’s answer — “For nothing will be impossible with God.” Mary knew fullwell that when God created this world and all things, He merely spoke and it came into being. Check out Genesis, chapter 1 for that account. Now, Mary learned that her aged cousin had also conceived a son, who was called John the Baptist. How? “For nothing will be impossible with God.” What God says is what happens. It is the power of His word and authority as Creator of all things. There is nothing created that God did not create. When the apostle Paul teaches us about Jesus, he says in Colossians 1:15-17, And He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For in Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities — all things have been created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together… In other words, Jesus is God Almighty made visible to us. He created all things. His coming to this earth to save us from our sins is His work. When describing God’s saving power, Isaiah 49:26 says, And all flesh will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. The one and only LORD came in the form of Christ Jesus, to redeem us from our sins. With Him “nothing will be impossible”. Man’s imagination should not go one iota beyond that. We need to realize that God Almighty totally humbled Himself to be born a true man for our sake. Because God humbled Himself for our sake, we need to humbly accept His truths. Seeing God’s pure love for us, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, open up our hearts and minds to know and praise You rightly.” Love, Margaret .
